Perhaps the quirkiest, most unique voice in Jamaica, Roy Shirley twists, contorts, whines, and prowls his way through three octaves in his course of musical mayhem. "Hold Them" may be the tune that birthed rock-steady -- it is indubitably a classic. His output is often hysterically funny and nearly always compelling in a "My God how can he get away with that" fashion. Though it's difficult to find, it's worth every effort.
